Filed under: Real America, Awesome, Ha Ha Ha, Advertising — admin @ 11:14

Below, a Utah State Fair commercial created by the team behind Napoleon Dynamite that was rejected for being too much fun sexually suggestive for Utah.

la-follette.pngThe Governor’s Race: Milwaukee Mayor Fightin’ Tom Barrett will be the Dem candidate to replace Jim “Eeyore” Doyle, who is leaving office to comfort-eat his way into another 40 extra pounds. Meanwhile, both Republican hopefuls have been racing to the bottom.

Glenn Beck: Mac Fanboy

Filed under: Gaaaah!, Elsewhere, Apple Product Placement, Ha Ha Ha, Branding — admin @ 11:03

screen-shot-2010-09-09-at-120408-pm.pngFox News has a really interesting completely insipid “Getting to know Glenn Beck” section at their site. Glenn tells us, among other things, that his favorite book is ‘The Christmas Sweater.’ And yes, Beck answers that in the battle of “Mac vs. PC” he is, in fact, a Mac.

Rush Limbaugh is also a Mac fan. Huge Mac fan.

Your Pants are Lying to You

Filed under: No No NO, Gaaaah!, Tricky, Elsewhere, Essays, Ha Ha Ha, Branding — admin @ 08:22

screen-shot-2010-09-08-at-92409-am.pngThis isn’t the subjective business of mediums, larges and extra-larges — nor is it the murky business of women’s sizes, what with its black-hole size zero. This is science, damnit. Numbers! Should inches be different than miles per hour? Do highway signs make us feel better by informing us that Chicago is but 45 miles away when it’s really 72? Multiplication tables don’t yield to make us feel better about badness at math; why should pants make us feel better about badness at health? Are we all so many emperors with no clothes?

After the jump: I’m on the radio with Dave Ross talking about this. (more…)

Which “Contra” Are You?

Filed under: I need a new tag, Tricky, Ha Ha Ha, This Could be Longer — admin @ 13:52

Depending on how old you are , “Contra” means two distinctly different things. If you’re of the Y Generation, it probably means an album by Vampire Weekend. If you’re of the X Generation, Contra is probably a Nintendo game you played all night long.

NRA’s Danny McBride Spoof “Misfires”

Filed under: Gaaaah!, Failure, Ha Ha Ha, Advertising — admin @ 19:07

So, the NRA appears to have hipped itself up a bit and decided, disastrously, to use Danny McBride style Eastbound and Down satire to get its message across. Behold and cringe:

The best part is that it works in the exact opposite way.

Be A CIA Agent: Shoot Some Sh*t Up!

Filed under: Gaaaah!, No No NO, Real America, Ha Ha Ha, Advertising — admin @ 10:07

CriminalJusticeDepartment.org is a site that is advertising on Facebook. Is it any surprise the police force attracts some of the types it does? I mean, look at that splash page! Christ.

How does France-hating GOP feel about GOP France?

Filed under: Gaaaah!, Elsewhere, Ha Ha Ha — admin @ 16:27

screen-shot-2010-08-25-at-91106-pm.pngThe GOP France. Ironically awesome.

If you speak French it is probably three times as funny.
