The Grand Forks Herald headline says it all: “Walsh County sheriff wins re-election, fires opponent.” Of the many great passages of the article about the firing of the 19-year veteran, this is maybe the best:
“Wild said he consulted with the state’s attorney and a human resources official before firing Nord.”
